A. J. is available to teach workshops on a variety of topics: Writing for the Theater, Acting Through Song, Storytelling for Young Performers, Accents, and more! A. J. is also an accomplished director!
During my undergraduate studies at Jacksonville University I had the formative experience of working with A.J. Freeman on her new musical ‘Tomorrow,’ with music by Kristoffer Bjarke. This work was a beautiful culmination of years of hard work – a portal into the intense emotions and battles those experiencing depression face. A.J made working on these sensitive subjects very easy. Her writing presents these subjects in a very real, but also palatable, way for all to understand without diminishing the seriousness of the moment and darkness those with depression struggle with. Her openness to answering questions about the script and motivations for each character presented a masterclass in acting and character development. Working with her was a joy and an experience I'll never forget as a performer.
~Sommer Kinsler (lead role in TOMORROW while Senior at Jacksonville University, FL)
The best part about working on this project was being able to use my voice to express my creativity. That opportunity felt so fulfilling not just within the creative process, but also with being able to convey it through my character’s arc.
~Emiko Dunn (age 16, original cast of TODAY WE CELEBRATE EARTH DAY)
Being able to see the creative process of working on one of the first drafts of Ant and Grasshopper and then the full version of Fables was so incredibly inspiring and fun!
~Lorenzo Hilliard (ANT AND GRASSHOPPER in Grade 8 + FABLES at The Green Room 42)
